Tips on Avoiding Car Upholstery Repair

Keeping the inside of your car looking good is just as important as keeping the outside looking good. If you want to resell your car at some point, the shape of the interior can influence how much it will bring. The SeatFixer specializes in car upholstery repair in Orono and the surrounding areas. We want to share a few tips on how to keep your car upholstery looking its best.

If possible, try to avoid eating and drinking while in your car. Sometimes, it's unavoidable. But if you can keep yourself and others from possibly spilling something on your car seats, you might be able to avoid car upholstery repair like professional stain removal.

During the winter months or during months when it's particularly muddy outside, knock your shoes free of snow and mud before you get into your car. If you wanted, you could even keep a spare pair of clean shoes in your car so you don't track mud and dirt onto your car's floor or seats. Just make sure those shoes are comfortable and safe to drive in.

When you spill something in your car, take the time to clean it up. Use the same type of spot removal techniques on your car seats that you would use on carpeting in your home. If you use a stain removal product, make sure to test it in a small and inconspicuous area before you use it anywhere else. Be sure to blot the spill up with a white cloth and make sure you avoid rubbing or scrubbing the spill.

Make it a point to clean the inside and outside of your car on a regular basis. Even if you can only get to it once a month, that is better than never at all! When cleaning your car's interior, be careful when you spray any cleaning products, and be sure to test cleaning products before you use them to make sure they do not bleach any part of your car's interior or cause any problems. In addition, make sure you do not use any cleaners, appearance enhancers or conditioners that are silicone-based on your car's interior. If you use anything silicone-based, it could damage your car’s upholstery.

Caring for Leather Car Seats

Leather car seats are a great luxury item. They look nice and they can add value to your vehicle. But leather car seats need a bit of extra TLC to continue looking great. We specialize in car interior repair in St Paul and the surrounding areas, so here are a few tips on how to keep your leather car seats looking as good as the day you bought the car.

One of the biggest rules to keep in mind about leather car seats is that, over time, dirt will build up on the seats. And because dirt is abrasive, it can scratch your car seats and lead to a dull finish. Ignoring this problem will only make it worse: the abrasions could eventually lead to your leather car seats cracking.

The best way to take care of your leather car seats and to avoid car interior repair is to go out and buy a leather cleaning product. These are widely available at most stores. You can get them in spray, wipe or lotion form, and there are plenty of leather conditioners available as well. Keep in mind that if your car seats are made out of perforated leather, you should not use the lotion-type cleaner. Also, do not use leather cleaners or conditioners that contain silicone. Make sure these products are naturally based, preferably with lanolin.

Do not use vinyl cleaners on leather. While this might be tempting if you have a bottle of vinyl cleaner lying around, it can do more harm than good. A vinyl cleaner could damage your leather seats and make them look too shiny, which could result in the need for car interior repair. Leather car seats should have a low-gloss look to them.

You should also vacuum your leather car seats on a regular basis: use a vacuum attachment and try to get as much dirt and dust off of them as possible. Then apply the leather cleaner following the directions on the back of the bottle.

There are also some day to day precautions you can take to avoid car interior repair. Keep sharp objects off of your leather seats, clean up spills right after they happen and call in a professional car interior repair service if you need help repairing rips and tears.

Get Your Boat Seat Repair Done Now and Be Ready To Go This Spring

You had a great summer with the boat on the river and lakes. The boat is out of the water now to wait for winter to pass. When spring comes and you are getting ready to put it back in the water, there may be some cleaning, painting, and perhaps servicing of the engine before it's ready to go, but how about the upholstery. What condition were your seats in at the end of the season? You may want to consider having some boat seat repair done during the off season.

If the seats have been exposed to the sun for several years, they may have become badly faded. If so, you may want to have them refurbished or even recovered so your boat will be looking sharp next spring. Did you take a really good look at the seats the last time you used your boat?

Everybody is not as careful as you are when it comes to respecting your property. There may be some small tears, holes, scratches, or burns in your boat’s upholstery that should be repaired. Even if everyone has been careful, cracks can develop from normal use and exposure to the elements.

Most of the tasks that need to be done to get your boat ready in the spring can be done in short order, but boat seat repair can sometimes take a while longer to complete. This would be a good time to check your seats and have them repaired if needed. Then when spring rolls around, you will be ready to get back in the water with a good looking boat, and without delay.

Auto interior repair can give your car a new life

Have you been thinking of trading your car in for a newer one? If you have, and it’s because your car is beginning to experience too many mechanical problems, then maybe it's a good idea. But if your auto is still giving you good service and the outside is in good shape, perhaps you're just getting tired of the aging interior.

When you are in your car, you are mainly aware of your immediate surroundings. The seats may be getting worn, the carpet might have what seems to be a permanent stain, and the headliner is beginning to sag. A new makeover from an auto interior repair expert might be just what you need to change the interior of your car from depressing into cheerful and energizing.

Twin Cities auto interior repair professionals can make amazing changes in the appearance and feel of your car's interior. Replacement carpets, or carpet dying if they are in good shape, repair of scratched and torn dashboards and side panels, reattaching or replacing sagging headliners, and refurbishing of worn and torn seats work together to give your auto a “new car” feel.

At first you might think that it would cost a lot to have an interior makeover, but just think of what people spend to upgrade the outside and the mechanical parts of their cars. Lots of folks have their engine overhauled or replaced to get better performance. Some people even have their cars repainted occasionally to improve its appearance.  An auto interior repair and makeover will probably be much less expensive than either of those, and you will get more pleasure from it.

When it comes time to finally sell your vehicle, the outside will probably look pretty much like most other cars. But, the inside of your car will really stand out from the crowd. This can mean a higher sales price and a quicker sale, but you may not really want to sell.
